Soms zijn de ontwerpen bedoeld als kunstwerk, soms niet. Dat hangt meer af van de opdracht dan van de kwaliteit van het werk zelf. Het Zuilenpaviljoen is streng geometrisch en sober opgebouwd. Vlak bij dit gebouw staat een poort met twee zuilen, Ionische kapitelen en een fronton. De combinatie van het paviljoen en de poort situeert dit ontwerp
