From around this time, although they had a band name, they became more and more a collaboration unit between Mike Mainieri and Michael Brecker. Mike and Michael performed an early show at the Bottom Line in New York in June 1984 with a lineup of keyboardist Warren Barnhart, drummer Peter Erskine, and bassist Tom Kennedy.
