I wanted to do something different than my usual hollow form vessels with this piece that would showcase the beauty of the wood and the shape of the tree and decided to make a “Winged” Bowl

This piece is oriented so that the pith runs horizontally through the center of the vessel. The spalting at the very top and bottom of the piece is where the fungal process took place in the sapwood of the tree leaving the golden colored heartwood portion unaffected.
