This card forces enemy creatures to enter the battlefield tapped and lets its controller gain life and deal damage to opponents whenever they cast spells

The flexibility here is worth the extra mana over Animate Dead

I like the value coming out of this card, but it seems a little bit contradictory for green as a 2-drop
