Bestowing the powers of a Planeswalker onto a card and gaining the potential to stack your Mana pool is handy if you can pull it off
Like, if there was a four-mana 4/5 that was legal in every format, that said "you may cast this from your library," and tapped to add a mana (let alone multiple mana, via cost reduction of an entire card type), we'd probably give it a second look
