On the surface, there doesnt seem to be anything particularly special about this Gyarados card aside from its Fire type, when Gyarados is usually a Water type Pokemon
I've learned that the upside of playing a one or two drop is great if you can hit a mana accelerant or something that discards an opponent's card but the chances are so low that often I choose to just sit and do nothing until turn three
Nicol Bolas, the Ravager was the only one that broke through in Standard, but perhaps thats as it should bethe set was about him, not Palladia-Mors, the Ruiner
When "Harpie Lady" or "Harpie Lady Sisters" is Normal Summoned or Special Summoned, destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field
There are also plenty of merfolk lords to play, like Merfolk Sovereign, Master of the Pearl Trident, and Merrow Reejerey
And for the Inked drop specifically, there's that Deathrite Shaman worth taking note of
