While it does die to Wild Slash and other cheap damage effects, the bounce ability is crucial (and powerful)
As a general rule of thumb, a card with higher rarity will have more impactful in-game effects than one with a lower rarity

If you invest heavily into powering up one creature, only for your opponent to kill in with something like an Infrenal Grasp or wipe your board with a Wrath of God, thats a massive disadvantage to be in
Interestingly, Duskmourn seems to be pulling back on that trend a bit, with fewer legendary creatures and some cards that explicitly dont work well in Commander
