The initial idea of Historic was that players would be able to continue to play their cards after they rotated from Standard, and adding a bunch of super-pushed cards each quarter had the potential to basically function like rotation, by making cards that players already had in their collection unplayable (from a competitive perspective, at least)

This lets you wring out some extra value by essentially negating the downside of other cards that have you discard as an additional cost
If you move it into the active spot, place an energy on another creature and then move it back out to attack, you can use its ability to get 90 HP healing along the way
